Unemployment in Ireland is now 5.5%

Unemploment figures in Ireland are creeping up and the unemployment rate now stands at 5.5%. This means that there are over 41,000 more people on the live register that 12 months ago. The CSO announced in March that unemployment was now at a 10 year high.

This is worrying news and it is probably a worse situation when you consider that alot of workers have returned home particularly polish workers. We posted about this news previously.

On a positive note Pfizer announced a major job investment in Cork with a new R&D facility.
